Melissa Ridley Elmes, assistant professor of English, has been elected to a three-year term with the Modern Language Association's Delegate Assembly. With over 25,000 members in 100 countries, the association is the largest international organization in the field of modern languages and literatures; the Delegate Assembly is the governing body of this organization.

Lindenwood alumnus Lamerol Gatewood (’77) has made a career as an artist and educator in New York for decades, and now, one of his paintings has made its way back to St. Louis and is on display in the St. Louis Art Museum exhibit, The Shape of Abstraction: Selections from the Ollie Collection.

Earlier this month, Jane Beckman, communications director for the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery, presented a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Kristy Tucciarone’s Advertising Campaign Management class for a variety of work the class has performed for the nursery over the past two years.

Chad Kerksick, associate professor of exercise science, was quoted in an article in Men’s Journal about the benefits of tart cherry juice to aid in muscle recovery after workouts.

The second annual Lindenwood, Pepsi, Salvation Army Bell Ring Challenge brought in $2,736.27 over a five-day period, a nearly $1,000 increase over last year’s total.

Lindenwood University will hold its December Commencement ceremonies at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, and at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the St. Charles Family Arena. Nearly 800 graduates are expected to participate in the ceremonies, and 1,290 degrees will be conferred.

At 8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10, a broken power line touched off power surges on Lindenwood University’s Heritage Campus and knocked out power on that side of campus for a little over three hours until repairs could be made by Ameren. During the outage, students from affected residence halls were relocated to the Spellmann Center, where Lindenwood President John R. Porter purchased pizza for the relocated students.

Congratulations to Allison Barry, who received first place or DECA Gold in the team case study category of Sports & Entertainment at the Collegiate DECA Conference – ENGAGE – held the weekend of November 21-23 in Chicago.

Alex Ferrario (’13, ’15) has a case of the blues. Fortunately, that means the two-time Lindenwood graduate gets to talk every day about his Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues and get paid for it.
